چکیده

The purchasing power parity (PPP) is generally accepted as the exchange rate projection between two countries relative to their inflation rate. However, despites many researches in past years, answer whether PPP holds, remains an on-going debate. prior are criticized for heavy reliance on bilateral which consists of short time-series or uses multilateral real effective (REER) constructed by fixed trade weight. Finally, implementing only most popular unit-root stationary tests such ADF and PP deems diagnose with certain weaknesses, instance, size distortion ascending from heteroscedasticity. main purpose this study, therefore, study holds Cambodia? In paper, alternative test known KPSS incorporated thereof. Avoiding aforementioned problem, time-varying weights Cambodia 1995 2019 employed construct total data points months 295 REER January July instead. result indicates that theory based generated modeled constant trend. thereof also has a mean reverting process. Keywords: Purchasing Power Parity, Real Effective Exchange Rate, Time-Varying Trade Weights, Unit Root TestJEL Classifications: F31, F41, C23DOI: https://doi.org/10.32479/ijefi.10543

Real Effective Exchange Rate and Trade Performance in Iran

The Purpose of this paper is to investigate the long-run effect of real effective exchange rate on Iran non-oil trade balance. The methodology is based on ARDL procedure that can be applied irrespective of whether the regressors are I(0) or I(1). The results show the real depreciation has not a favorable long - run effect on the non-oil trade balance of Iran from 1979 to 2001.

Purchasing power parity and real effective exchange rates

This study re-examines the validity of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) by focusing on the real effective exchange rates (REERs) for the post-Bretton Woods period, using newly developed unit root tests that account for both nonlinearity and smooth temporary multiple breaks in the data. The tests are applied to the REERs of 23 developed countries and are able to reject the null hypothesis of a unit...

Purchasing Power Parity and the Real Rand-dollar Exchange Rate

his paper tests for evidence in support of the purchasing power parity (PPP) in the bilateral real exchange rate series of the South African rand against the US dollar. The importance of considering structural breaks in the PPP test is illustrated. Using standard unit root tests without considering structural breaks, the study is unable to reject the null hypothesis of a unit root in the exchan...

Testing the Purchasing Power Parity in Pooled

In this paper we test the purchasing power parity for the post Bretton Woods period for 18 main industrial countries. As base currencies we use alternatively the Deutsche mark, the Japanese yen, and the US dollar. We employ error correction models for single countries and on the level of pooled equations allowing eecient inference on domestic and foreign price elasticities of nominal exchange r...
